Using this program you can install Sensible World of Soccer onto your HD
The main part of it was written by Sentinel, but I've had to slightly
modify it because it didn't work with SWOS 1.1, 95/96, EC'96 and 96/97.
Features:
- 1.0, 1.1, 95/96, EC'96, 96/97 versions of SWOS supported.
- easy way of installation (supplied installer script).
- an icon included.
Requirements:
- 3 meg of RAM (tested on 2MB Chip / 4MB Fast) on A1200 with FastMem and
on A1200 with Blizzard-IV 030.
- hard disk (if you haven't one, why have you downloaded it?)
Using:
First of all you have to have an Installer somewhere in your system path.
I think the best place for it is C: directory. Then you can run installer
script by clicking on an "SWOS Install" icon. Now you can set the
directory where the game should be installed, choose the version of SWOS,
insert SWOS disks and wait.
Disclaimer:
This program has been tested with all supported (1.0, 1.1, 95/96, EC'96 and
96/97) versions of SWOS and it seems to work properly. However authors are
not responsible for any loss of data, damages to software or hardware that
may result directly or indirectly from the use of this program. I can't
guarantee, that my installer works with all (especially pirated) versions
of SWOS. However it should work with originals. And remember, if you
really believe in Amiga and you want software companies to continue
developing their Amiga products, please, buy the original.
If you are a fan of SWOS try to download SWOS data editor. It's available
in Aminet /pub/aminet/game/patch/SWOSEd.lha. It's not an older version
of swosedv2.lha file! Download SWOSEd.lha!
BLIZZARD BUGFIX?
Many people told me that they can run only ECS version of SWOS on A1200s
with Blizzard when they install the game onto their HD using previous
versions of my installer. This version should work well. I tested it on
A1200/Blizzard-IV 030/6MB RAM.
IMPORTANT FOR SWOS 95/96, EC'96 AND 96/97 USERS:
Don't format, delete or do whatever with your original SWOS disks.
Sometimes you'll have to insert these disk to floppy drive. I have tried
but I can't do anything to fix this.
BOOT DISK
Even if your Amiga has 6MB of RAM, sometimes SWOS can't be loaded properly
because of memory fragmentation, an error message appears, or ECS/OCS
version is loaded even if you have an AGA machine. How to solve this
problem? Very simple. Prepare a special boot disk.
1. Format a diskette and make it bootable (use C:Install command)
2. Create a drawer called "s" on this disk
3. Create a file called "startup-sequence" in this drawer using your
favourite text editor. It should look like this:
---
Cd Work:Games/SWOS ; specify a path where SWOS is installed on your HD here
ssboot swos
---
4. Every time you want to play SWOS, boot your Amiga from this boot disk.
WWW PAGE
If you have any problems using HD installer or you want take a look at my
other programs, you can access the following WWW pages.

Before you mail me, please, look for your answers there. I'll have more
time to write new programs! Thanks to Jeff Crawford and Rafal Sanda for
help with creating this WWW page.
PUBLIC DOMAIN? SHAREWARE? FREEWARE? - NO, IT'S PRAYWARE!
What is prayware? Well, you can use this program without any restrictions,
freely copy it etc., but... you have to pray God for help for the new
Champions of Poland - Widzew Lodz - to play well and to be the champions of
Poland again. That's all. I'd like to thank all of you, who wished Widzew
good luck in Champions League.
THANKS
I'd like to thank Sven Goehler. He helped me to fix the bugs in SWOS 95/96
installer (it didn't work on non-AGA machines).
Many thanks for TRiSTAN (Peter Jansson) and Peter van Hanegem. Without
them HD installer for SWOS EC'96 would be ready much time later.
Thanks also for Dominic Cresswell and Mariusz Sikorski vel Maksiu for help
with writing an installer for 96/97 version.
Thanks to Piotr Cieniak. I got many signals from Blizzard users, that they
can run only ECS version of the game even on AGA machines, but I couldn't
fix this, since I don't have Blizzard. Piotr owns this turbo card and let
me test my HD installer on his machine.
Greetings to all registered users of SWOS Ed.
COMMENTS
Hmmm... SWOS 96/97 contains updated data files, but... Polish league is
full of bugs. For example Marek Citko, the best Polish player, is not in
Widzew Lodz! He isn't in any other team either. Many names are spelled
incorrectly, good players are cheaper than worse players... I suggest to
take Polish data file updated by me from my WWW page.
TO DO
It would be great to write an installer for 96/97 update disks. I tried to
do it but had some major problems. I'll try again, but don't guarantee
anything.
Enjoy HD version of SWOS.
